TangoTube is a web platform designed to help users discover new tango videos through a highly detailed and dynamic search experience. It allows filtering videos by genre (Tango, Milonga, Vals), follower name, leader name, orchestra, and year. The platform offers features such as:
Overview of all dance partners of a given dancer
Orchestra preferences of dancers
All performances by a particular dancer in different genres
Performers associated with specific orchestras
Sorting options by oldest performance or grouping performances by song
Dynamically updating search results to help users refine queries before submitting
Consistently formatted video titles and descriptions showing song, orchestra, genre, and other relevant info
Clickable song and event information for easy exploration of related performances without typing search terms
Detailed song metadata including orchestra, genre, recording date, singer, composer, author, and lyrics
Wikipedia-like user editing to correct or add missing information upon account signup
The project was developed over two years by Justin Marsh, beginning during the COVID quarantine, merging his passion for tango dancing and building impactful digital tools.
